Religion no subsitute for Regeneration ( John 3:1-21)

Part of the Jesus in John's Gospel series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Nicodemus was a very religious Jew and morally upright. He was confident that he belonged to the people of God, a member of God's kingdom and would be in heaven one day - until Jesus shocked him. 'Your physical birth and religion does not qualify, you need to be born again, specifically of 'water and the Spirit'. What did Jesus mean? Why is religion and upright moral behaviour not enough? In this message we explain what Jesus mean and we see that religion is no substitute for regeneration [being born again].
