We thank our God and Father for a wonderful weekend at Carmel in George. A few families trekked over on Friday afternoon, while others pitched on Saturday or Sunday, to get away from the routine and have an opportunity to hear and reflect on our personal devotion to the Lord Jesus.
On Saturday we covered the topics of Prayer, Fasting and Meditation, based on works by John Calvin, John Piper and Donald Whitney. It was difficult to compress such broad topics into 3 succinct sessions, but there was an overall positive feedback, with many being challenged and encouraged to be more intentional and focussed in these Christian disciplines.
Besides the teaching, there was plenty of time for relaxation, fun and food. Carmel did a superb job at catering and hosting. The kids also enjoyed swimming, a tractor ride, a playground, and a trip down to the beach, thanks to Jacques.
This will definitely be something to be repeated. Don't miss out next time!

Maundy Thursday: a Wonderful Evening |
On the night before Good Friday, we were pliveleged to go back in history to the time of the tabernacle, and walk through a recreation of the design God gave Moses at Mt Sinai. The greatest joy was seeing how each article, and the layout, directly foreshadows our Lord Jesus Christ, the True and Eternal High Priest.
The verse for the evening was from Hebrews 12: 'holiness... without which noone will see the Lord'. We were reminded that without our Mediator, Jesus, in Heaven, we could not approach God. It was a quiet, meaninful, meditative evening, and we enjoyed sharing in the Lord's table, remembering His great sacrifice for us, and the last evening He spent with His disciples before going to His cross.
Photographs from the evening can be viewed on our Facebook page by clicking here .
