Welcome – 24 December 2017

Welcome 24 December 2017

Christ, by highest heaven adored:

Christ the everlasting Lord;

Veiled in flesh, the Godhead see,

Hail, the incarnate Deity –

Pleased as Man with man to dwell,

Jesus, our Emmanuel!

(penned by Charles Wesley and set to music by Messianic Jew Felix Mendelssohn, from a cantata celebrating Gutenberg’s invention of the printing press)

Too often when I sing, my mind is wandering – but when I sing these inspired words, they grip me, and I choke up. The Majesty of Heaven stooping to save me from the mire of sin, drinking my bitter filth to set me free to be with Him – words fail me, but my heart cries out Lord! Oh thank you Lord!

So with the universal church, from time past to life eternal, let us at this season give joyous praise to the triune God who is bearing us through until He comes a second time, in Power and great Glory.
