Welcome – 21 October 2017

Crowns and thrones may rise and perish, Kingdoms rise and wane,

But the church of Jesus constant will remain

Gates of hell can never ‘gainst that church prevail;

We have Christ’s own promise, and that cannot fail!

So, onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war

Looking unto Jesus who is gone before!

Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng!

Join with ours your voices in the triumph song.

Glory praise and honour, unto Christ the King,

This through countless ages, men and angels sing!

As we enjoy the Sunday afternoon teaching, leading up to 500 year anniversary of the breaching of the gates of hell in the Reformation, how glorious it is to have hymns like this that uplift our hearts and affirm our position in the victory parade with Jesus. The battles continue, because the enemy fights on, ever more desperate to retain its grip in its diminishing territory in Emmanuel’s land. But God is Sovereign and Hell is doomed, with its misery and pain.

Glory!
