Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way – Psalm 119:4
A man killed himself with at least 22 mainly young people, and injured about 60, when he detonated the bomb he was wearing at a pop concert in Manchester this week. The outcry at this savage act has been immense – especially from Ariane Grande, the 22 year old female star of the concert, whose charity work for orphans and LGBT youths, and activism for popular causes has brought high praise. Her proclaimed allegiance to Kabbalah teachings: "the basis lies in the idea that if you’re kind to others, good things will happen to you" echoes seemingly flawless modern ethics. But a short review of her YouTube performances reveals advocacy of false ways that are every bit as damaging, but less obviously so, than the action of the suicide bomber.
People need saving, both from false values and from eternal destruction. Pray that the sobering that results from such vicious incidents can bring many to start to respond to the Good News and the hatred of every false way.
