Welcome – 1 October 2017

My brethren, count it all pure joy when you fall into various trials . . .

JAMES 1:2

When I work as a consultant for delicate blasting projects, things can go horribly wrong. Gritting my teeth and sighing, I persevere because (a) people are depending on me for help, (b)  there will be full payment for the long hours of struggle to rectify the situation, (c) my experience and reputation will be enhanced by the process, (d) there will be a day of gladness when the problems are past and the project is complete. In other words, I count it as something to be glad for.

In the same way, if we will only remember with whom we are in partnership, and His promises, although we may weep and ache for the moment when we face trials, we can count it as pure joy. That’s what faith means.

What a friend we have in Jesus!
