Welcome – 13 February 2022

Act 28:30 he welcomed all who came to him, proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance
Dear Church Family – Welcome!
This month 13 years ago I began at Knysna Baptist. With each passing week the reality of final Welcomes and new Goodbyes sets in deeper. For all of us it is an exciting time of change, an opportunity for fresh beginnings and renewed vision. But also some moments of trepidation.
Another good step has been the formation of the Call Committee, and we give thanks for those who've volunteered and accepted the call.
No matter what we expect , we can be sure that while we do what the Lord puts in our hands to do, He is working His perfect plan by His sovereign power.
May Knysna Baptist continue to be a place of Welcome –
to all people, and the Lord Himself.

Welcome – 23 January 2022

And all the people
gathered as one man into the square before the Water Gate. And they told Ezra
the scribe to bring the Book of the Law of Moses that the LORD had commanded
Israel. So Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, both men and
women and all who could understand what they heard, on the first day of the
seventh month. And he read from it facing the square before the Water Gate from
early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women and those
who could understand. And the ears of all the people were attentive to the Book
of the Law.

Neh 8:1-3

Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ.  What a special occasion this must have been –
what could have been the first public reading of Scripture.  The people came hungry for the Word.  It is my hope and prayer that you come hungry
too!

Blessings,

Mark

Welcome 16 January 2022

Acts 14:5-7
When an attempt was made by both Gentiles and Jews, with their rulers, to mistreat them and to stone them, they learned of it and fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding country and there they continued to preach the gospel. (ESV)
Something very powerful was driving the apostles. Everyone was set to kill them, yet they didn't conclude thereby that preaching the gospel was a bad idea. They only found other audiences who might receive the News of Jesus well.
This in itself reminds us that there is something bigger than our life, and earthly comfort. It is Jesus, who is Life, and Eternal Confort.
Is it possible that in the comforts of our living and relative peace, we have settled for lesser idols, and easily forget the Ultimate Treasure in Christ? Would it be worth sharing the Treasure of His Gospel, even if it means less peace and comfort?

Welcome – 25 December 2021

… an angel of the Lord
appeared to him in a dream, saying,
“Joseph, son of David, do
not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from
the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he
will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the
Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a
son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).

Mat 1:20-23

The world celebrates Christmas as a time of giving, a time
for family and food.  Let us not forget
the real reason for Christmas – Behold Immanuel, God with us!  Isn’t it amazing that the Creator of all
things humbled Himself to born of a woman, to live and die amongst us, all for
our benefit?  Join us as we celebrate His
birth.

Merry Christmas,

Mark

Welcome

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” – Romans 1:16-17

Welcome Family in Christ Jesus
The apostle Paul gives a crucial reminder of the confidence that we have in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our confidence comes with the knowledge and conviction that the Gospel is the very power of God. We can take great joy and comfort that our confidence is not in what we have done, but in the power of God, who is able to save all that believe in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. What an awesome and mighty God we serve! Let us lift up our hearts and voices as we worship Him together this morning.

In Christ Alone

Welcome 28 November 2021

The great Christmas season is coming upon us quickly. Schools wind up, Work shuts down or picks up, crazy drivers flood the Garden Route. Whatever it is you anticipate, make sure to prepare Spiritually. All the excitement can steal the greatest joy of Abiding in Jesus. Let's make it about Him, and Live!

1 John 4:9
In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.

Welcome – 22 November 2021

As you know by now, the Lord is bringing some exciting changes to Knysna Baptist. Suddenly we are plunged into an era of imaginations and hopes, and anxiety and cares. I have found the Psalms to be a beautiful fortress for all of this, because these songs always lead us to Christ, who is a Strong tower and Refuge, a Delighter of hearts and Companion of the righteous.

 Psalm 20:2-5

May he send you help from the sanctuary and give you support from Zion!

May he remember all your offerings and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices! Selah
May he grant you your heart's desire and fulfill all your plans!
May we shout for joy over your salvation, and in the name of our God set up our banners! May the LORD fulfill all your petitions!

The best thing we can all do, amid all these exciting and wondrous events, is pray. Pray together, and commit ourselves to His will and His ways!

Malcolm

Welcome 14 November 2021

“For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.”

Romans 6:5-8

Welcome Church Family
I would like to encourage you with the objective surety we have in Jesus Christ. Paul is expressing the fact, believers share and have the life of Christ. Just as a limb grafted into a tree shares the life of the tree. The life of Christ is our life now. By being united with Christ, we should be encouraged, knowing that once truly saved, we are always eternally saved. This union cannot be broken. Amen! Let us rejoice together this morning in light of this truth. Let us praise His Holy name. Let us stand and lift up our voices, alive in Jesus Christ.
Matthew

Welcome – 10 October 2021

Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; for “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.” And this word is the good news that was preached to you.

 1Pe 1:22-25

Greetings fellow saints of the Lord Most High. God has redeemed us and washed us clean with the precious blood of Christ.  We have been given a new life by the Word of God, therefore we should love one another earnestly from a pure heart.

Join us today as we dig deeper into His Word and hear the good news being preached!

Blessings,Mark
