Welcome – 7 April 2019

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes….For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith” Rom 1:16

God is holy and his standard is very high. We as humans have been tainted by sin, for there’s no one that is righteous according to scripture. God requires us to be righteous to stand before him.

Paul had confidence in the gospel message to bring about salvation to all who believe. This very gospel also revealed the righteousness of God, that is Jesus’ righteousness. By faith, Jesus’ righteousness becomes ours, allowing us access to God.

I hope that this truth encourages you to stand firm in your faith, knowing that God made a way for sinners to be righteous before him!

Welcome – 24 March 2019

And we have something more sure, the prophetic word, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place….(2 Peter 1:19)

Have you ever stared at the fire when braaiing, on a dark night (or at a candle during load shedding)?  The longer you stare at the flames, the more the rest of the world seems to disappear.  This is how Peter tells us we should study the Word. Our focus, our attention should be wholly on the Word, without any worldly distractions.  This is true meditation.  Not emptying your mind but filling it with the wonder and majesty of the Word.

Welcome – 17 March 2019

Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. (John 14:13-14)
If we believe Christ's incredible, repeated, statement, it will be evident: We will be praying people, praying Regularly, Specifically, Confidently, Purposefully.
It IS an incredible statement. And it ought to be believed because the One who said it rose from the dead by His own power. Take what you know to be His Will. And appeal to Him for that. He will do it.

Welcome – 10 March 2019

On Thursday this week at 6 a.m., KBC’s fresh Eldership gathered for its first executive meeting. 10 a.m. is no longer viable, but there is real significance making this the first action of the day. From now on, Thursdays at 06:00 are our time together, whether for monthly meetings or with the Future Focus team, or just connecting for prayer and sharing, seeking to nurture and know each other.

The Lord has us on His path of growth, thankful for our rich past, ready for a rich future in Him:

Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you! My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. (Psalm 73:25, 26)

Welcome, and do pray that we may be sensitive to His leading in all things.

Welcome – 24 February 2019

Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.

I think we get it that there is a super-enormous gap between the thoughts of God and the thoughts of man, which we can never reach.
But do we also get it that when He speaks, His unreachable thoughts are no longer so! We have access to the very thoughts of God. As Paul says,

But, as it is written, "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him"–10 these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. (1Co 2:9-10)

Therefore, brothers and sisters, through God's Words, and by God's Spirit, come and feast today on the Thoughts of God.

Welcome 17 February 2019

“Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ” – 1 Cor 11:1

Paul could have simply said, “Be imitators of Christ!” – but the people were forming factions around various authority figures. So he cut through the confusion with the simple rule: “only imitate me (or anyone else) to the extent that I imitate Christ.”

The best teachers are also role models, helping us to see what it looks like to apply their teaching. But like the rest of us, they have feet of clay. God has given us the Bible and the Holy Spirit to help us in discerning truth: and a plurality of wise guides in applying it. What joy it is as we gather in church and at Bible studies, exploring and celebrating our life in Him, knowing He will bring us through!

Welcome 27 January 2019

“Never in the history of mankind has so much been owed by so many to so few” – Winston Churchill’s emotional cry at an RAF station during the Battle of Britain. While building this into what would be his most famous speech, a friend said, “What about Jesus?” – and Churchill changed the word “mankind” to “human conflict”.

But the words are indeed owed to Jesus Christ, with the whole company of martyrs and missionaries who have established the Church for our salvation and joy.

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth” – Acts 1:9

Rejoice today as we welcome Andy and Debbie Abbott, on furlough from labour for the Moskona people in Papua. We are in partnership with them!

There is nothing better than this!

Welcome – 13 January 2019

"It is good to give thanks to the Lord", Psalm 92.

We'll never turn away a good meal. Unless we've spoiled our appetite. And then we may look longingly at the delicacies, incapable of enjoying them.
Here God's word tells us that our spiritual hunger will be well satisfied in the act of praise. We may have spoiled our appetite for worship by trying to feast on the world. And maybe we wonder why we've come again to another Sunday service.
But you need not look longingly as an outsider. It will definitely taste good when you give thanks to the LORD.

Welcome 6 January 2019

God will guard the feet of His faithful ones, but the wicked shall be cut off in darkness, for not by might shall a man prevail…The LORD will judge the ends of the earth; He will give strength to His king and exalt the horn of His Anointed.” – 1 Samuel 2: 9,10.

In dark times, God gives us enough light for each step, as and when we have to walk.  In order to receive that light, we need to be tuned to the right channel, giving it priority. Surely, darkness that trips the ungodly lurks even in relatively innocent channels like friendship and commerce.

If we receive on other channels (and we do), then God’s channel needs to be the one governing both how we choose, and how we interpret what we see and hear.

Welcome this Lord’s Day, be encouraged in walking His way through 2019.

30 December 2018

Forgetting what lies behind … I press on toward the goal … Philippians 3:13, 14

The Christian’s goal is to glorify God. As 2018 draws to a close we must forget those areas of our lives when we have not glorified God as we ought to have done, but rather press towards our goal to be more useful and pleasing to God.  May our goals be to please Him; to delight in Him; to desire Him above all; and to know Him more intimately than ever before. Some things need to be renounced and others more diligently disciplined. It is not the pace we set at the beginning, but the race we maintain to the end. A crown awaits us and the Lord requires nothing less than our best as we journey through 2019.

May this coming year be one in which we all bring glory to our Lord and Saviour.
